HDUEO ACQUA

XXXIII Biennial of Contemporary Art

23 October – 10 January, Alatri – ITALY

The XXXIII Biennial of Contemporary Art of Alatri, entitled HDUEO-ACQUA, will be inaugurated on Saturday 23 October at 5.00 pm. The exhibition was promoted by the Municipality of Alatri, Department of Culture and by NEWART2000 events & communication, with the support of the Lazio Region and the Lazio Regional Council, in collaboration with the FRaC Baronissi Museum, the Cristin Tierney Gallery in New York. Curated by Luigi Fiorletta and Massimo Bignardi and set up in the cloister of the former convent of San Francesco located in the historic heart of the town of Frosinone, the exhibition presents the works of twelve artists present on the national and international art scene: Annalù, Peter Campus, Giulio De Mitri, Massimo Latte, Donato Marrocco, Franco Marrocco, Arturo Pagano, Marco Pellizzola, Fabrizio Plessi, Joan Punyet Miró, Nicola Salvatore, Valentina Vannicola with a tribute to Paolo Rosa and Studio Azzurro. On display installation interventions, paintings, sculptures, video installations. “Water – highlights the artistic director Luigi Fiorletta in the introductory text to the catalog – is today among the primary needs of the planet, the essence of our life, the central point on which the question of the future revolves. Looking carefully at how much the expressions of contemporary art dedicate to it, takes on a particular meaning: observing at a close distance the ability that art has, with its creative energy to push the gaze towards an awareness of reality, of we need to build a world where sharing and participation are essential elements. ”

“To guide the choice of artists – Massimo Bignardi specifies – was the desire to focus attention on different generations and languages. That is, to enter the pages of current events, considering in it the experiences that have been a ‘pioneer’ for the new generations. Paying homage to Paolo Rosa and Studio Azzurro highlights this choice of field: observing, reading, studying the forms of creativity means, first of all, considering the processes of art as an expression of perpetual motion that looks at the dignity of man. Water, therefore, as an element of regeneration, of life that becomes the material of that inexpressible dialogue that art weaves with the life of our planet “.

The exhibition will remain open until January 9, 2022. In compliance with anti-covid regulations, access to the venue requires a green pass, the correct use of the mask and interpersonal distancing.
